New Wedding Trends
New Wedding Trends that are actually pretty cool.
1. Bouquet of Fabric Flowers
To some people, flower bouquets seem like a waste of money since they are so costly and are only used once; which is why a new trend is making way. Handmade fabric flowers; which in the end can be time consuming, but could easily be cranked out in one or two weekends if you set aside a lot of time. Despite the time commitment, the total cost fora DIY bridal bouquet and three bridesmaids bouquets can be around $50, rather than spending hundreds on flowers that wilt and die!
2. The GoPro Approach
The GoPro Hero3: Black Edition is a great discreet camera to film the most special day of your life. Every moment of your wedding day is a special moment, and these great cameras are there to provide the footage. Tip: Hide a camera in the flower bouquet of the Bridesmaid or give a camera to the Best Man for the day. Both offer a unique first person point of view of the wedding day, including getting prepared. Another idea, is to place a camera at the end of the top table to capture all the speeches. Sometimes which end up being the best part of a wedding day.
3. Rustic Weddings
I remember as I child my father used to joke that he would dress me in burlap sack just to hide me from all the guys. I still laugh at that image, but what's even funnier is the fact that burlap has grown popular over the years. Mostly for use in rustic weddings that utilize the natural fibers used as wedding decor tied around mason jars, as a fabric to cover ring pillows, or as natural table decor… but the inspiration hasn't stopped there! I have seen burlap wedding programs, veils, garters, and boutonniers. Tip: When making a garter, make sure to have the burlap sewn to the front, so it won’t irritate your skin.
4. Glimmering Skys
Crystal wedding decorations create an enchanting ambiance. Don’t have a ceiling? No problem. Hang the crystal garlands, crystal curtains, and or crystal chandeliers, from trees to tents. For a single chandelier can make a great ceremony backdrop and creates a simple focal point to say I do.
5. Mismatched Maid of Honors
Ok, let’s be honest, it is really hard to find one dress that looks good on every single body type. So why not let your leading ladies have some say in the matter? A lot of traditional bridesmaid dress designers are offering collections that allow for multiple variations on the same general style. Tip: To ensure your bridal party still looks cohesive, limit the number of styles your friends can choose from.
6. Lights, Camera, Memories
Hands down, photography is one of the most fun parts of any wedding. It's a time to get downright silly (or serious) and capture the best moments of the celebration.
7. Bite Size Appetizers
Your guests only have two hands total and one is mostly likely reserved for your the cocktail drinks. So serving appetizers that require the use of all ten fingers is just cruel. Bring an end to the awkward cocktail hour juggle and opt for small bites that can easily be enjoyed with one hand.
8. #Hashtag Wedding
To hashtag or not to hashtag? That is always a question, but it seems couples these days either unplug altogether from social media during the wedding – or go the opposite direction and make it a major element throughout. The social media #wedding includes selfies of every moment, a special #hashtag just for the wedding, and special pages or albums on Instagram, Facebook and beyond.
9. After Parties
Since wedding receptions tend to be for the whole family, planned "after-parties" are a popular way for the bride and groom to celebrate with friends late into the night. After the cake is cut and the old folks go home, couples are organizing personalized after-parties in VIP lounges, bars, special tents, or hotel suites, so they can keep the party going.
