Your Adventure Starts Now

The American poet, Nikki Giovanni, struck a true chord when she penned, “We love because it’s the only true adventure.” The truest adventure is opening your heart to another, rather than hiding it in a safe box under lock and key. After all, falling in love is not for the faint of heart. It takes a special kind of courage to entangle your heartstrings with another’s and wander hand in hand into an unknown future together. Every unknown involves an element of risk, but daring to love has the utmost risk. It meas trusting your heart to another in hopes that they will give you theirs in exchange. Everyone knows love can be unpredictable. There is no map to pull out and examine when you get lost. There are twists and turns and you never know where the road will lead next or if it will suddenly and abruptly end. However, the reward of the journey is invaluable and infuses meaning into life like all great adventures do.

Here are some pretty cool wedding ideas that you and your spouse can do to make your day that much more special.

1. Have a themed wedding(view my previous post for some ideas).

2. Do you love sports? How about a wedding on the field of your favorite teams arena or if your looking for something cheaper, have your wedding at your local park and have your guests team up against each other and make some lasting memories, whether it be football, soccer, baseball, etc.

3. For those mountain bikers or cross-country roadsters that have a passion for speed, involving the bike into the ceremony is a fun twist. The bride can either zoom in on her cycle and perhaps the couple can ride off into the sunset on a two-seater.

Not many would think of racing down the aisle on a cycle, or taking a zip line down the side of the mountain to meet their future forever-love, but it is good to remember that a person only gets married once. This day should be immortalized in the memory of everyone as not just a beautiful ceremony, but an exciting one as well!

4. Zip lining might not be enough for some adrenaline junkies, so jump off a plane together and get married in a free fall from the sky (not recommended for someone who has never sky dived before).

5. There is a cowgirl and cowboy in most of us, some buried deep down, and what better occasion is there to live out this fantasy than on your wedding day? A lot of girls like to have a horse-drawn carriage to take them to the reception after a wedding, but why not take it one step closer and get married on the horse? The bride and groom can both ride their horses into the wedding and gallop away into the sunset once their vows have been exchanged.

6. If the land isn’t exciting enough, take the wedding vows underwater. There might be a challenge in kissing the bride after the I dos but this can always be corrected ten-times over when above the ocean’s surface. This will be a silent wedding. Small signs can be brought down with the vows or the words yes on them. However, the scenery for this wedding can be out of this world.

7. Or how about a Redneck Wedding because a little mud can add up to a unique wedding.

8. Jump for Y.E.S. - what about a bugee jumping ceremony. Have atleast 20 witnesses attend with an officiant on a floating platform and then once you say I do, jump off.

9. Shark Tank Wedding - How about having sharks and eels as your guests. What a thrill! Instead of gown, where a white wet suit and have your groom wear a black suit. And if the pastor doesn't want to get in the cage with you guys then do the ceremony "I do's" over a transmitter.

10. Or one of the ones I think is actually pretty cool, is a wintery wonderland ceremony! Whether you like to ski or snowboard, say your "I do's" at the top and when you all is said and done, have your group ride the slopes!

I have actually known friends who have done this and they said it was a memory worth making!

11. But my ideal wedding would be a simple country side venue. No special building, just trees, fresh air, and family. For seats I would do hay or tree stumps, nothing special!
